Family Movie Night - Frozen II

We know that during this time of social distancing that one of the fights is to keep children from watching TV or being on electronics the entire day.  However, this weekend, instead of fighting it, transform your family movie night into a devotion.  Below you will find some questions and Bible verses that will help make the movie Frozen II, which is currently On Demand, Disney + and other streaming services into a devotional time for the whole family.  Please note that Frozen II is rated PG, so parental guidance is suggested.

Before you watch the movie, read Bible verses below together -

Hebrews 13:8 - Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.  No matter how things around us change, the one unchanging constant in our lives and our world is God in Christ Jesus.  We can cling to God when everything else around us is rapidly transforming, knowing that he will be the same.

Matthew 5:13-16 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
One of the expressions/themes that we hear throughout Frozen II is to do "the next right thing."  Sometimes we can get caught up in our purpose and think that we need to be doing one or two major things to change the world.  However, we need to remember that Jesus told us we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world.  If God is leading us to do something big and huge, we need to do it, but we always need to keep our eyes open to do "the next right thing" that God puts in front of us.  We need to live by the motto that we do for one what we want to do for all.

Matthew 5:23-24 -“So if you are presenting a sacrifice at the altar in the Temple and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you,  leave your sacrifice there at the altar. Go and be reconciled to that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice to God.
God's desire is for us to live in a family with fellow believers.  The unity in the family of God will help us reach the world with the Good News of Jesus Christ.  One of the themes in Frozen II is that there is a wrong that needs to be righted.  In as much as it is in our control or ability, we need to right the wrongs we cause, so that we keep our relationships strong and prevent hard feelings.  This means that we need not only need to be willing to tell God we are story (confession), but need to be willing to apologize to people we hurt (reconciliation).

WATCH THE MOVIE

After the Movie ask these questions...
What helped Olaf and other's deal with all the changes that were coming at them?  How does knowing God never changes give you comfort?

What did Elsa, Anna and other's do the next right thing throughout the movie?  What do you think Jesus means when he says we are the "salt of the earth?"  What is one thing you can do to be the salt of the earth?

How did Anna right a wrong that had been done?  What was the potential consequence for Anna righting this wrong?  Why do you think it is important to God that we right wrongs, say we are sorry and repair relationships?

Pray together as a family!
